Title: SLAC Tune Tracker/Feedback

1
SLAC Tune Tracker/Feedback
  • Mike Laznovsky

2
Requirements
  • Track tune per plane and per ring
  • Move multiknob to maintain tune
  • Switch ranges while tracking
  • Constant tune or current dependent tune modes

3
Tune Space
4
Hardware
  • GPIBdriven SR830 lock-in amplifier
  • Tweaks the beam, watches response
  • Works best on non-colliding bunches
  • Phase response is almost linear in region of
    interest
  • Four devices (LER,HER) (X,Y)

5
S/W Implementation
  • All IOC support is soft or GPIB
  • Fairly flat database
  • Three sequence programs per device
  • Amplitude Control
  • Tracking code
  • Feedback code
  • One sequence program for VMS synchronization

6
General H/W control

Some Results
12
SLAC status an aside
  • LCLS
  • demonstrate injector by 10/2006
  • modify SLC timing to accommodate LCLS
  • SPPS now working (ANL Undulator)
  • VXI PPC (Kinetics) has worked in production
  • Supports 4 new PEP Low Level RF boards
  • Stephanie from ESD to SPEAR
  • Unix infrastructure work Versioning,
    Deployment, Escalation

13
More SLAC status
  • 8-Pack (NLC Test Accelerator) software in
    commissioning
  • Oracle Archiver
  • Scalar PV access is about 2x slower than
    file-based access
  • Waveform access is very slow
  • Changing waveform storage to VARRAY
  • Matlab Channel Archiver access(Uses libIO,
    works with traditional files too)
