cups of water. At this rate, how many cups of
water are required to make 24 cups of soup?
  • A 6 cups
  • B 18 cups
  • C 32 cups
  • D 96 cups

17. Median
This word actually means.. the middle number in
an ordered set of data.
What does this word mean to you?
Explain how you would use this word in math.
Examples
5
Objective
  • SPI 0706.1.2 Generalize a variety of patterns to
a symbolic rule from tables, graphs, or words.

6
Lesson Ch 5 L 5 Extension Lesson
  • NON LINEAR EQUATIONS
  • Equation whose graph does not form a straight
line (linear) is called a Nonlinear Equation

7
How can you tell if it is nonlinear
  • 2 ways!!
  • 1st way is to graph it! If it is curved line (not
straight) when you graph it then it is nonlinear.

8
  • 2nd way
  • Look at the function table

Constant changes by the same amount Variable
changes by different amounts If both sides are
constant, it is linear. If both sides are
different, it is nonlinear.

Reminders
  • The x values and y values do not have to match
    for it to be constant.
  • Just look at the x the values and then look at
    the y values separately.

18. Mode
This word actually means.. the number (s) that
occur most frequently in a set of data.
What does this word mean to you?
Explain how you would use this word in math.
Examples
14
Objective
  • SPI 0706.1.2 Generalize a variety of patterns to
a symbolic rule from tables, graphs, or words.

Lesson Ch 5 L 6
  • Slope is the steepness of the line
  • Slope rise (change in Y)
  • run (change in X)

Negative
Positive
16
Choose any two points on your line. Count up
from the bottom dot and Then go left or
right. Up 3 Left 4 (think when we go left it is
negative) ¾ is the slope Since this is a
negative line it is -3/4 (simplify this if
you can)

Interpreting slope
  • We can also use what we know about slope to
    interpret the meaning of graphs.
  • Keep in mind when we do this ALWAYS put Y over
    X.
  • Y axis per X axis (look at their labels)

Thursday Bell Work show work
  • 1) At 600 A.M. on Friday, the outside
temperature was 5 degrees below freezing. At 500
P.M. on Friday, the outside temperature was 15
degrees above freezing. Which integer best
represents the change in temperature from 600
    A.M. to 500 P.M. on Friday?
  • A -20
  • B -10
  • C 20
  • D 10
  • 2) At 600 P.M. on Tuesday, the outside
    temperature was 45 F. By 600 A.M. on Wednesday,
the outside temperature was 33 F. Which integer
best represents the change in temperature from
    600 P.M. Tuesday to 600 A.M. on Wednesday?

This word actually means.. the difference
between the greatest and least values in a data
set.
What does this word mean to you?
Explain how you would use this word in math.

a symbolic rule from tables, graphs, or words.

27
N2K
  • Critical Thinking
  • Answer the question by choosing the correct
equation for the table and justify in words only
    your answer choice.
  • Constructed Response
  • Draw any linear line on the graph
  • Write 3 points that fall on the line that you
    drew
  • Get a worksheet and complete when done.
