The Pain of Not Forgiving One Another

• An unwillingness to forgive others has brought
  about untold amounts of pain, pensiveness,
  pessimism, and problems to peoples lives
  throughout the world.
• A failure to forgive has caused
• Marriages to be ruined
• Siblings to be separated
• Families to be devastated
• Friendships to be fractured
• Workplaces to be demoralized
• Communities to be divided

The Parable of Not Forgiving One Another

• There is a parable that paints a completely
  unflattering portrait of what we look like when
  we refuse to be our brothers keeper by way of
  forgiving one another.
• This parable is found in Matthew (1821-35).

The Plea to Forgive One Another

• The command to forgive one another is clearly
  stated in the New Testament. (Ephesians 432)
• The consequences of refusing to forgive one
  another are also clearly stated in the New
  Testament by Jesus Himself. (Matthew 614,15)

The Promotion to Forgive One Another

• Perspective- Let us remember that God has had to
  forgive us a lot more sin in our lives than we
  will ever be required to forgive in the lives of
  those who have offended us.
• Preparedness- We should be as ready and eager to
  forgive the sins of others as God is ours. (Psalm
  865)
• Prayerfulness- We should be in a spirit of prayer
  at all times about forgiveness. (Matthew 612)
