Key Sections for your Lab Report

• Title Specific concise.
• (1) Introduction (Observation)
• a. Background Give a purpose/significance behind
  your experiment
• Inform the reader of the key concepts related to
  your investigation
• Give some information about the experiment.
• b. Research Question and identify the variables
  (independent and dependent).
• c. Hypothesis Write a predictive statement
  (Arboretum requires 3 statements).

• (2) Materials Methods
• where, when and how data was collected (Be
  specific)
• Remember, someone should be able to repeat your
  experiment!
• (3) Results (Analysis)
• Tables, figures, graphs, and description of
  results. Just the facts!
• Number all figures and tables refer to them in
  the text.
• (4) Conclusion/Evaluation
• a. Conclusion
• Do your accept or reject your Hypothesis?
• Explain your reasoning supporting it with the
  data you obtained.
• Provide specific aspects of your data that
  allowed you to come to this conclusion.
• b. Evaluation
• What were your specific sources of error?
• What can you do to lower or eliminate these
  errors?
• Evaluate your procedure. What would you
  differently to improve your procedure?
• Give some realistic improvements you would do.
