Promethean Software Training

• Gayle and Kathy will deliver the Phase 1
  training.
• All schools will have personnel trained in
• Activstudio, Activprimary software.
• Video conferencing equipment.
• Bridgit.

THE SOFTWARE PROGRAM

• The software is not difficult to use, and it will
  certainly be an excellent tool for the
  enhancement of many teaching and learning
  experiences
• The final software package going out to schools
  has been customised to meet the needs of our
  system.
• Catering to Panasonic stylus boards and Smart
  finger boards.
• Promethean boards experience unchanged.
• Interwrite boards will also work with this
  software.
• The software will be unique to the DET

Training What is going to be available

• Learning Systems Team (Gayle and Kathy) will be
  delivering the first phase of training to schools
  and DET consultants
• The next phase of training will be curriculum
  and/or stage specific
• This will be determined by Regions
• Possibly training will be developed and delivered
  by the curriculum and ICT consultants with the
  support from the Learning Systems team.

Phase 1 training

• A DET Registered course.
• The focus will be on using the software as a tool
  to enhance TL.
• Not necessarily to replace existing practice.
• It is will be a 2.5 day course on the
  Activstudio/Primary software, using the boards
  in the classroom, video conferencing,
  encompassing the basics of use with curriculum
  connections.
• Hands on experiences.
• Participants are requested to bring along a
  notebook computer.
• LS team would like to provide a variety of
  flexible configurations of delivery - TBC
• These might include 2.5 intensive days,
  spreading the 2.5 days over 2 or 3 weeks,
  breaking up the modules and spreading them over
  several weeks.

Phase 1 training continued

• It may be useful to spread the training over a
  few weeks to enable participants to consolidate
  their learning in between sessions.
• If possible Gayle and I will train simultaneously
  across the region and link up parts of the
  training via Video Conferencing team teaching
  some modules.
• Nothing has been finalised.
• Suggestions and views would be greatly
  appreciated.
• This training will not commence until term 3,
  after week 3.
• Participants to the course will be requested to
  have first completed the Promethean online free
  Level 1 Foundation Skills course.
• On the 24th June all the first phase school
  principals and their learning partners will be
  attending a conference.
• Training details should be finalised by then.

• Practise may only occur after the software has
  been installed. However it is still possible to
  view the demonstrations.
