Title: TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY

TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY
  • Can you manage driving in fog?

When driving on a normal day you must be alert
and defensive at all times. So imagine driving
during a fog! Its like driving with a blindfold
on. How can anyone possibly see where they are
headed or what direction to take? Fog affects
perception and can easily lead to an accident if
one does not drive carefully. Read on to find out
about a few safety tips ..
2
The problems you face..
  • See if you agree
  • The fog affects your view!
  • You are not sure where you are headed,
  • unless you are familiar with the road.
  • You sometimes miss the turn that you were
    suppose to
  • take.
  • You cannot see cars ahead or behind unless they
    are a
  • car length away.
  • You dont really know what speed to maintain or
    distance
  • you have traveled.
  • You are not sure if you are driving straight and
  • in one lane, plus you find it difficult to
    maneuver.
  • There is no signal light , roundabout or
    junction
  • in sight.

Here are some safety tips
  • The first and most important thing to do is to
    review
  • Halliburtons and each countrys policy on
    driving in foggy
  • conditions.
  • Consider postponing your trip until the fog
    clears.
  • Drive slowly and turn on your headlights.
  • Please dont use your emergency flashers. This
    should only
  • be used if you stop at the shoulder or if you
    have problems
  • with your vehicle.
  • Dont stop in the middle of the road or leave
    your vehicle
  • unattended. Drive it to the shoulder and put
    your emergency
  • flashers on so that other drivers can see you.
  • Dont forget to fasten your seatbelt and be
    aware
  • of drivers who dont use their headlights.

Here are more safety tips
  • Make sure others can see you. Turn on your
    lights and
  • use low beams. High beams direct the light up
    into
  • the fog, making it difficult to see you.
  • Remember that other drivers are not able to see
    with fog
  • around, so signal early to let them know your
    intended
  • action.
  • Use your defroster and windshield wipers for
    maximum
  • visibility.
  • Be alert for slow moving vehicles and traffic
    stopped ahead.
  • During light fogs, control your speed so that
  • you have sufficient visibility.
