- Headquarters for the tribe are located in
Browning, Montana. - Descendants from tribes known as the Blackfeet,
Bloods and Piegans. - Their language comes from the Algonquin line.
- Blackfeet name comes from the black color of the
bottom of their moccasins. - Tribal members work in agriculture, timber,
tourism and construction industries.

- The Big Horn River runs through the reservation.
- Tribal members work in agriculture, farming,

- County Location Flathead, Lake, Missoula, Sanders

- The Lower Flathead River runs through the
reservation. - The proper name of the Salish is Sqelio.
- The proper name of the Pend dOreille is Qaeispe.
- Kutanaxa is the aboriginal (Canadian) relative of
the Kootenai. - The largest employer on the reservation are the
tribes themselves.

farming

18Little Shell
- Headquarters Great Falls
- Tribal group Chippewa
- County Cascade
- They have been in Montana for 100 years
- 2000 preliminary recognition was given to the
tribe.
The Little Shell is a landless tribal group. They
live in Great Falls, Havre, Lewistown, Helena,
Butte, Chinook, Hays, Wolf Point, Hamilton and
Billings.

- 1st Indians in Central Montana
- Little Shell and his people were not included in
the Turtle Mountain rolls - Moved to Montana to hunt buffalo
- Tribe is recognized by the state of Montana, but
not yet recognized as an official tribe by the
U.S. government.
