• Purpose

To develop audit
procedure and administration policy for reuse of
single-use medical devices so that the
introduction of these devices into clinical
practices can be regulated to prevent increasing
risk of infection due to inappropriate reuse of
these devices on patients?

Range of the procedure the
procedure consists of that the responsible staff
in clinical units inform the infection prevention
and control(IPC) center and fill in the "audit
form for reuse of single-use medical devices " 
to apply for and explain the reuse of single-use
devices the IPC center will assess the
apppropriateness of and approve the use of these
devices in the electronic administration system
the responsible staff in clinical units submit
the data of reusing single-use medical devices to
the IPC center quarterly for archiving the IPC
center will audit the quality control of each
unit irregularly and feedback the
results annually?(Table1Table2)
The IPC center irregularly check the
management policy of reusable medical devices in
each unit?The IPC center performs annual check in
eight units with a total 57 items of reusable
medical devices,the report is presented at the
department meeting and returned to the units with
abnormal conditions?The units should perform PDCA
for improvement? (Table3Figure3)

• Discussion Conclusion

• (1)Through irregular check and feedback from the
  IPC, the leader of each unit need to have
  internal inspection and improvement?
• (2)examine the medical devices for any defects or
  abnormalities before use. If there is any
  abnormality, stop using the devices?
• (3)examine the medical devices for any defects or
  abnormalities before use,Immediate review and
  improvement of abnormal events to avoid the same
  incident from happening again?
• (4)CSR can reject the sterilization of unapproved
  medical devices. The clinical units have to
  complete the application process with the audit
  form for reuse of single-use medical devices?
