Title: Supper

1
Suppers Ready
  • For every time you eat this bread and drink this
cup you are retelling the message of the Lords
death, that he has died for you. Do this until he
    comes again.
  • 1 Corinthians 1126

2
The Facts, Please!
  • The name Passover reminded the Israelites of the
night in Egypt when the Lord passed over their
houses because they had put blood on their
doorposts. In their slave masters houses, where
there was no blood, the oldest son died. That
night Pharaoh let the Israelites leave Egypt.
    They were free!

3
More Facts, Please!
  • After that, God told the Israelites to celebrate
Passover once a year in the spring at the time of
the full moon. At this special supper, certain
    things were eaten
  • A roasted lamb-This was a year-old male that was
perfect, without any defects. It was taken to
the temple, where it was killed. Its fat was
burned, and its blood was offered on the altar.
Then it was taken home and roasted.

4
Things to eat continued.
  • Bitter Herbs- This was wild lettuce or something
similar. It reminded the Israelites of the
    bitterness of slavery.
  • A sauce-This was called charoseth. It was a
paste of dried dates, raisins, and vinegar, and
was about the color of a brick.
  • Red wine-A drink made from the juices of grapes.
  • Unleavened bread-This was bread that had no
leaven in it. It was eaten at Passover and for
the next week. Leaven is like yeast, which
causes bread to rise. Un leavened bread is thin
and hard. When the Israelites escaped from
Egypt, the women didnt have time to bake raised
bread, so they ate this instead.
