  • A comparison between unlike objects that uses
    like or as.
  • But most (Socs) looked at us as if we were dirt.
  • The Socs treat them like they are low class
  • I told you he (Sodapop)
    looks like a movie star,

    and he kind of radiates

Metaphor
  • A comparison between unlike objects that does not
    use like or as.
  • Tim had the tense, hungry look of an alley cat
  • He was sly and dangerous
