2The railing of the Chanot Park where the colonial
exhibition took place in 1906 and 1922
3On each side of the monumental staircase of the
Marseille station, which was inaugurated in 1925,
we can see statues which call back the colonial
past so,we can read

(except Europe) through a typical colonial
statuary of the beginning of 20 th century.
10On the famous avenue called Canebière the
caryatides representing continents decorate the
facade of an ancient hotel built in the 19th
century. We recognize easily Africa.
11 The building of stock exchange, inaugurated in
1860 is an important place for trade (particularly
with the colonies).
12Next to there, on a square, if we raise eyes and
look at the facade of building, we can see 6
emblems representing six cities of North Africa
Alger,Oran,Bône,Tunis, Tanger and Rabat.
13The front wall of the ancient seat of the
shipping company established in 1836 and
belonging to the Fraissinet family.
14The seat of the CFAO (French Company of West
Africa) established in Marseille in 1887, and
which dealt in foodstuffs and regular consumption
such as groundnuts, cocoa, tobacco and alcohol.
15In 1903, the Health Service of colonies
(established in 1860) becomes the Health Service
of the colonial troops. The creation of a
training school of the service is necessary as
decided in 1905, the school open its doors in
1907 in Marseille. Nowadays, it is the place of
the Institute of Tropical medicine of the health
service of the Army.
16The war memorial called Orient Gate is
dedicaded in to the colonial soldiers who died
fighting for France.
