GENETICAL FEATURES OF CHROMOSOMAL FORM C OF
MICROTUS MAXIMOWICZII FROM THE RUSSIAN FAR EAST

2
The role of chromosomal rearrangements in
speciation still unclearly.
Introduction
The maximowicz's vole Microtus maximowiczii
(Rodentia) is convenient species for
investigating this problem.
3
All rearrangements for this species can be
divided into three types
1 - is fusion of two middle sized pairs of
metacentrics to formating of large metacentric.
2 - is Robertsonian rearrangements.
3 - is pericentric inversions of 4 pairs.
  • Rearrangements by Mejer et al., 1996

Areal and terra typica points of M. maximowiczii
Russia
Mongolia
China
Korea
  • M. m. maximowiczii Schrenck
    1858,
  • Amurskii and Khabarovskii regions in Russia, and
    in northeastern China
  • M. m. ungurensis Kastchenko
    1913,
  • Buryatia and Chitinskii regions in Russia and
    North-Eastern Mongolia

5
For this species was described five chromosomal
forms (Kartavtseva et al., 2008)
  • A 2n 39 - 44, NF 53 - 60 (Buryatiya),
  • B 2n 38 - 42, NF 54 - 57 (Buryatiya),
  • C 2n 39 - 41, NF 55 - 60 (Far East)
  • D 2n 4043, NF 54-58 (Zabaikalskii kray and E.
    Mongolia)
  • V 2n 36 - 40, NF 52 - 56 (Transbaikalia and
    W.Mongolia).

Conclusion
  • In the territory Middle Amur river (chromosomal
    form C)
  • Stabilization of karyotype with Robertsonian
rearrangement chromosomal pairs 11 and 20 and
    inversion of pair 14
  • Two clasters of control region of mt DNA can be
results of isolations of two animals groups.
