  • The narrator is Doodles older brother. Doodle is
    a child with physical disabilities and severe
    health problems. Predict how the relationship
    between the brothers might affect the story.

  • At times I was mean to Doodle. One day I took
    him up to the barn loft and showed him his
    casket, telling him how we all believed he would
    die (Hurst 557).
