Introduction

• What is Floral Design?
• The art of organizing the design elements
  inherent in plant materials, container, and
  accessories according to the principles of design.

Line Flowers

• Tall spike of flowers with florets blooming along
  the stem.
• Create the outline for an arrangement establish
  the height and width as well as curvilinear
  lines.
• Examples
• Snapdragons
• Gladiolus

Mass Flowers

• Have the flower head on the terminal end of the
  stem.
• Draw attention to the focal point and add mass
  and weight to the arrangement.
• Cover the floral form and help fill empty areas
  with flowers.
• Examples
• Carnations
• Roses
• Chrysanthemums

Form Flowers

• Unique in shape or color such as.
• Bird of paradise
• Orchids
• Create the accent or focal point or area of the
  arrangement to attract the viewers attention.

Filler Flowers

• Have sprays of flowers such as babys breath and
  statice, or they are like ferns.
• Are used to fill empty spaces and to accent the
  other floral material within the arrangement.
• Also used to cover or hide the mechanics of the
  arrangement including the frame, supports, ties,
  and etc.

• Step 1
• Select a design shape.

• Cut floral form,
• Attach to container.
• Step 3
• Set container and foam in water for 20 minutes.
• Step 4
• Select fern or other filler and arrange in foam
  to cover foam and extend at least 1 ½ times width
  of container.
