• As part of the system possible to be deployed for
  providing Broadband Wireless Access, the latest
  version of 3GPP system has been considered as a
  good candidate to provide services for Fixed and
  Mobile services
• Documentation has recently been provided to
  ITU-R WP 8/A containing the element defining the
  solution

• Thanks to the provision of services based on IMS
  defined for many organizations all together (e.g.
  3GPP, 3GPP2 and TISPAN) based on as referenced in
  the submission from the PSOs members of 3GPP in
  ITU-R M. ip char
• Also 3GPP having defined the interconnection of
  WLAN to IMS through the 3GPP Access depending on
  one of the five identified scenarios many options
  are possible.

• IMT-2000 CDMA DS IMT-2000 CDMA-TDD
• The use of these radio technology with or without
  mobility can be deployed and used for the
  provision of broadband services using the later
  refinement provided by Release 6 allowing 14.4
  Mbps in the downlink and 5 Mbps. This will be
  even better fitted with the evolution under way
  in 3GPP called Long Term Evolution where
  throughput will increase up to 100 Mbps in the
  downlink and 50 Mbps for the uplink
• Relation with ITU-R WP8/A has been established on
  this subject and input have been provided
  recently for consideration.

• Regulatory aspects
• All frequencies already foreseen for Mobile can
  be used
• If new frequencies are required, from an ETSI
  perspective, TC MSG elaborate the European Norm
  to cover it after study of the requirement within
  3GPP

• Conclusion
• Most of the different technologies developed in
  3GPP (FDD/TDD) are possible to be used for the
  provision of services
• The Long Term Evolution foreseen to provide Over
  100 Mbps for the downlink and 50 Mbps uplink as
  soon as completed (2008) will cover the next set
  of requirement for BWA
