• Today we will learn how to write the exposition
  paragraph of a fictional narrative
• Fictional narrative an imaginative, made-up
  story that includes a complete beginning, middle,
  and end.
• It must also include main and minor characters,
  action, and dialogue.

How to Write a Fictional Narrative

• Your story must contain
• A distinct setting (time and place)
• A plot, including exposition, complications,
  climax, and resolution
• Major and minor characters, including dialogue
  between them

Fictional Narrative 2

• Choose ONE of these options, and write a
  6-paragraph fictional narrative.
• A strange new girl has just joined your class no
  one seems to want to make friends with her. Now
  shes your lab partner!
• Your athletic team is currently in last place,
  but a wild card enables you to play against the
  top-ranked team for the state championship, THIS
  FRIDAY!

Checklist Do you have?

• All 6 paragraphs, 5 sentences each, no sentence
  under 10 words, and a space between each
• A real and serious problem shown in paragraph 2
• At least 8 quotes of dialogue
• At least 10 sense details
• No dead words, slang, contractions (except in
  quotes)
• Size 12 font, Times New Roman or Arial,
  double-spaced
• A title

• Start off with a weather reference the main
  characters, like this
• The icy Chicago wind ripped through Jimmy and
  Billys hair.
• Blazing Mississippi heat beat down on Billy and
  Jimmys sunburned backs.
