- Student Outcomes Survey of 2002 RMIT TAFE
- graduates showed that 13.1 of 15-19 yo
- respondents received Austudy.
- This compares to 27.2 of surveyed graduates aged
20-24 for the same group. - Other income sources include government pensions
or benefits, apprenticeship/traineeships, - parents/spouse, paid work.
14Some Issues for TAFE
- Unmet demand for higher education displaces some
traditional TAFE applicants - Growth in VET 2003-2010 projected to be slower
than in previous decade (Victorian estimate 1.7
per annum) - Increasing push for apprenticeships and
traineeships from both State and Federal
governments - Alignment of delivery to areas of government
priority

- IRCU has analysed student performance by cohort
for commencing undergraduate students at RMIT - Indicators include gender, mode of study,
funding, socio-economic status, rural urban and
age group. - Provides additional insight into factors

contact with students from other programs
