Freshman Course SelectionIts time to pick your
classes!!

• Program of Studies to explore course offerings at
  BHS next year!
• Class Registration module in your Portal

Portal

• Open your student Portal Account
• Click on Class Registration to begin the
  selection process
• You will be able to see your teachers course
  recommendations for your Sophomore year, as well
  as all the elective options that will be available

Make your choices!

• You must select one credit each in
• English
• History (Modern World)
• Math
• Science (usually Biology)
• World Language OR Support Services
• PE (two classes select your preferred PE option
  for second semester)

Do your research!

• Your teacher has recommended certain courses and
  content level for you. If you select a different
  class from one that was recommended, you and a
  parent should have a conversation about the
  recommendation with the teacher.
• There is no guarantee that we will be able to
  adjust your courses to a different level after
  you have been scheduled.

Waive into a level

• This means that you accept the responsibility to
  work as hard as needed to achieve success in a
  class that you selected.
• Stay after school for help with the teacher
• NHS Peer tutor
• Other support resources

Elective selection!Research pays off. Know
which type of elective you need find out what
courses are offered review the course
descriptions in the Program of Studies

• Electives select one full credit (2 semester
  courses or 1 year-long course)
• Elective ALTERNATES select four courses in case
  you do not get your first pick. Make sure you
  will like your alternate chocies!

• Open the Freshman Forms folder
• Open BHS Fine Performing Arts, Career Tech
  Ed cheat sheet
• You will use this sheet to quickly identify
  available elective options for you to take next
  year, according to the category you need

• Open the bhs graduation course review survey
  that you have completed already
• Use the answers to Question 6 to help guide you
  toward the type of elective category you still
  need

• Open the BHS website
• Access the Program of Studies in the Academics
  tab by following the links
• Use the Table of Contents to quickly and easily
  find the content area sections you are interested
  in

Finalize Selections

• You MUST have at least 7.0 credits selected in
  order to be able to save your requests.
• Be sure to save your work. You can go back to it
  until the Portal is closed in March!
