4Lessons Learned From Uzzah
2 Samuel 63-7
5When God Gives Man A Pattern, God Expects Man to
Follow That Pattern
- God gave Israel a pattern for the ark
- Specific instruction given (Numb 41-15)
- Ark not transported according to pattern
- Uzzah punished for disobedience
- Ignored the divinely appointed order
- David learns a valuable lesson (1 Chron 152-13)
- All brethren need to learn from Uzzah
- Isaiah 112 Hebrews 85 Exodus 2540
6Sins Committed with Good Intentions Are Still
Punishable by God
- Many believe wrongly
- Think that deeds committed with a good, honest,
and sincere heart do not jeopardize a mans soul - Uzzah had good intentions!
- Uzzah did NOT hearken to Gods exact words
(Numbers 415) - Pauls letter to the Romans
- Commended their zeal for God but condemned them
for not practicing righteousness - Romans 101-4
7Failure to Follow Gods Divine Patter is a Sign
of Irreverence
- Must show reverence for God
- One who rushes to speak or act without consulting
the will of God shows disrespect for Gods work
in revelation
The preparations of the heart belong to man, But
the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. All
the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But
the LORD weighs the spirits. Commit your works to
the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.
(Prov 161-3)
8The Counsel of Great Men Does Not Constitute
Authority from God
- David conferred with prominent men
Then David consulted with the captains of
thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
And David said to all the assembly of Israel, "If
it seems good to you, and if it is of the LORD
our God, let us send out to our brethren
everywhere who are left in all the land of
Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites
who are in their cities and their common-lands,
that they may gather together to us and let us
bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have
not inquired at it since the days of Saul. Then
all the assembly said that they would do so, for
the thing was right in the eyes of all the
people. (1 Chronicles 131-4)
9Dont Be Surprised At The JUDGMENT!
- Uzzah had his chance to listen and obey God
- Dont be an Uzzah having people talking for
many years about your good intentions, except
that you DID NOT do what God commanded! - Obey Gods pattern that has been given to us
Matthew 721
