    century.
  • Took realism to new lengths , painting bodies in
    a thoroughly down and dirty style
  • Secularized religious art, making saints and
    miracles seem like ordinary people.

  • He uses the perspective that brings the viewer
    into action.
  • To the police he was fugitive and wanted for
    murder.

    1571
  • Caravaggio died in 1610
  • In 1605 he had to flee Rome for stabbing a man
    over a women.
  • In 1606 he killed a friend in a sword fight,
    because of a score in a tennis match.

Why these artist were a good example of Baroque
style in my opinion.
  • These two artists both exaggerated motion and
    clear, easily interpreted detail.
  • They both produce drama, tension, exuberance,
    and grandeur from sculpture, painting,
    literature, and music.
  • Their styles both started around 1600 in Rome,
    Italy and spread to most of Europe
  • Their popularity and success of the Baroque was
    encouraged by the Catholic Church.
