1. ABO Blood Groups

• Discovered by Carl Landsteiner 1900
• Based on two antigens (A and B)
• 4 major types (A, B, O, AB)
• Incompatible types of blood is based on type of
  antigen/antibody present

  blood cells.
• Antibody- protein found in the blood, protect the
  body from foreign invaders
