39 En aquellos días, María se encaminó
presurosa a un pueblo de las montañas de Judea,
40 y entrando en la casa de Zacarías, saludó a
Isabel,
41 En cuanto ésta oyó el saludo de María, la
criatura saltó en su seno. Entonces Isabel quedó
llena del Espíritu Santo y,

42 levantando la voz, exclamó Bendita tú
entre las mujeres y bendito el fruto de tu
vientre!
43 Quién soy yo, para que la madre de mi
Señor venga a verme?
44 Apenas llegó tu saludo a mis oídos, el niño
saltó de gozo en mi seno,

45 Dichosa tú, que has creído, porque se
cumplirá cuanto te fue anunciado de parte del
Señor.

39 During those days Mary set out and traveled
to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah,
40 where she entered the house of Zechariah and
greeted Elizabeth.
41 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the
infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth,
filled with the holy Spirit,

42 cried out in a loud voice and said, Most
blessed are you among women, and blessed is the
fruit of your womb.
43 And how does this happen to me, that the
mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For at the moment the sound of your greeting
reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped
for joy.

45 Blessed are you who believed that what was
spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.

Today is the Fourth Sunday of Advent. The
readings for todays Mass speak of small
beginnings and great endings. The first
reading from the Prophet Micah 51-4 speaks
about Bethlehem, too small to be among the
clans of Judah. Even so a great ruler for
Israel would arise there. He would stand firm
and shepherd his flock by the strength of the
Lord. His greatness would reach the ends of
the earth. We now know that Micah was speaking
about Jesus.

Hoy es el cuarto domingo de Adviento. Las
lecturas de la Misa de hoy hablan de comienzos
pequeños que llegan a grandes conclusiones. La
primera lectura del Profeta Miqueas 51-4 habla
de Belén, pequeña entre las aldeas de Judá.
No obstante un gran jefe de Israel iba a salir
de allí. El se levantara para pastorear a su
pueblo con la fuerza y la majestad del Señor,
su Dios. Su grandeza llenara la tierra y Él
mismo será la paz. Hoy sabemos que Miqueas
hablaba de Jesucristo.

The second reading for the Mass is from the Book
of Hebrews 105-10. It portrays Christ
speaking in eternity. He says I come to do
your will, O God. It was probably
disconcerting to the Jews who offered holocausts
and sin offerings. For it says God neither
desired nor delighted in those things. In
effect, this takes away the old way of doing
things, and establishes a new way that of
offering the body of Jesus Christ once for all,
to pay for our sins.

La segunda lectura de la Misa es del Libro de los
Hebreos 105-10. Representa a Cristo halando
desde la eternidad. Dice Vengo para hacer tú
voluntad, Señor. Probablemente esta lectura
desconcertaba a los Judíos que ofrecían
holocaustos y ofrendas por sus pecados. Porque
dice que Dios ni desea ni se deleita con
tales cosas. En efecto, esto remueve la
antigua manera de hacer las cosas, y establece
una nueva manera Eso de ofrecer al cuerpo de
Cristo una vez para siempre, para pagar por
nuestros pecados.

The Alleluia verse at Mass is a selection from
Luke 138 where Our Lady says Behold I am
the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me
according to your word. It is the same thing
that Jesus says in the Book of Hebrews. And it
is the same thing that Jesus taught us to say in
the Our Father Thy will be done on earth as
it is in heaven.

El versículo de Aleluya de la Misa es una
selección de Lucas 138 donde Nuestra Señora
dice He aquí a la esclava del Señor.
Hágase en mi según tu palabra. Es la misma
cosa que Jesús dice en el Libro de Hebreos. Y
es la misma cosa que Jesús nos enseño a decir en
el Padre Nuestro Hágase tu voluntad aquí en la
tierra como en el cielo.

Jesus spoke often about the need to do Gods
will. In Luke 2242 the prayer of Jesus at the
Garden of Olives was Father, if you are
willing, remove this cup from me nevertheless
not my will, but your will be done.

Jesús habla muchas veces de la necesidad de hacer
la voluntad de Dios. En Lucas 22 42 la
oración de Jesús en el Huerto de Los Olivos
oración fue Padre, si tu quieres, pasa de
mí esta copa pero no se haga mi voluntad, sino
la tuya.

It occurs to me that the whole Bible is about God
making his will known to us. Gods will was to
make Adam and Eve according to his image and
likeness. That meant they had a free will
they were not like the animals. They were free
to reject Gods will, and make their own
decisions. And they did just that when they
disobeyed God.

Se me ocurre que la Biblia entera es de Dios
manifestando su voluntad a nosotros. La
voluntad de Dios fue hacer a Adán y a Eva a su
semejanza. Esto quiere decir que tenían una
voluntad libre, y no eran como los animales.
Ellos estaban libres para rechazar la voluntad de
Dios, y hacer sus propias decisiones. Y lo
hicieron cuado desobedecieron a Dios.

It is called the Original Sin. Jesus had to
come into the world to save us from the
consequences of that sin. When we say Your
will be done we get closer to being like
Jesus. We conform our will to the will of God.
It so happens that the will is that part of the
heart by which we make decisions. So ultimately
it is all about the heart.

Esto se llama el Pecado Original. Jesús tuvo que
venir al mundo para salvarnos de las
consecuencias de ese pecado cuando decimos a
Dios Hágase tu voluntad nos aproximamos a
ser como Jesucristo. Nos ponemos de acuerdo
con la voluntad de Dios. Sucede que la voluntad
es la parte del corazón por la cual hacemos
decisiones. Entonces, se puede decir que
ultimadamente se trata del corazón.

Out Lady showed us how to make a good decision.
She was in prayer when the Angel Gabriel came to
her. When we say the Rosary we remember this
passage and how Gods plan came to be accepted
by her. In the Mystery of the Annunciation
(Luke 128-32), the Angel Gabriel announces
that she will conceive and bear a son, and he
shall be called Jesus.

Nuestra Señora nos enseño como hacer una buena
decisión. Estaba en oración cuando el Ángel
Gabriel vino a ella. Cuando decimos el Rosario,
recordamos este pasaje y como se desarrollo el
plan de Dios. En el misterio de la
Anunciación (Lucas 128-32) el Ángel Gabriel
anuncia que ella iba a concebir y dar a luz a
un hijo, y le llamarían Jesús.

He will be great, and will be called Son of the
Most High. The throne of David will be given
him, and of his kingdom there will be no end.
When Our Lady approves of the plan of God, it
changes the course of the whole world. It all
started with prayer, and the love of Our Lady,
in the silence of her heart.

Él seria grande, y se llamaría el Hijo del
Altísimo. Se le daría el trono de David, y su
reino no tendrá fin. Cuando Nuestra Señora
aprobó el plan de Dios, cambio el curso de todo
el mundo. Todo comenzó con la oración, y el
amor de Nuestra Señora, en el silencio de su
corazón.

Today the Gospel reading is called the Mystery of
the Visitation. The Angel told Our Lady that
her kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age had also
conceived a son, even though she had been
barren. The Angel said Nothing is
impossible for God. Our Lady arose and set
out and traveled to the hill country in haste
to see her cousin.

Hoy la lectura del Evangelio se llama el Misterio
de la Visitación. El Ángel le dijo a Nuestra
Señora que su prima Isabel en su edad avanzada
también había concebido a un hijo, aunque había
sido infértil. El Ángel le dijo Nada es
imposible para Dios. Nuestra Señora se levanto
y se fue en prisa a la montaña.

When Elizabeth hears the Virgin Marys greeting,
the infant in her womb leaps for joy, and
Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit, and
says Blessed are you among women, and
blessed is the fruit of your womb. She also
said Blessed are you who believed that what
was spoken to you by the Lord would be
fulfilled.

Cuando Isabel oyó el saludo de la Virgen Maria,
la criatura salto de gozo en su vientre, y
Isabel se lleno del Espirito Santo, y dijo
Bendita tú eres entre todas las mujeres, y
bendito es el fruto de tu vientre. Ella
también dijo Bienaventurada la que creyó,
porque se cumplirá lo que le fue dicho de parte
del Señor.

St. Paul in Galatians 44-7 says When the
time had fully come, God sent forth his Son,
born of a woman, so that we might receive
adoption as sons (and daughters). God has sent
his Spirit into our hears, crying Abba!
Father! So we are no longer slaves but
children of God, and therefore heirs.

San Pablo en Galatas 44-7 dice Cuando vino
el cumplimiento del tiempo, Dios envió a su
Hijo, nacido de una mujer... para que
recibiésemos la adopción de hijos. Dios ha
mandado a su Espirito a nuestros corazones, el
cual clama Abba, Padre! Así es que ya no
eres esclavo, sino hijo, y sí hijo, también
heredero de Dios por medio de Cristo.

This means that at the Annunciation God was
beginning to set us all free from the slavery to
sin and death. The seemingly small beginning
at Nazareth led to the Birth of Jesus at
Bethlehem and to a great beginning of the reign
of God on earth in the person of Jesus Christ the
Lord and Savior. It is awesome in dimensions.
It is no small thing.

Esto quiere decir que en la Anunciación Dios
estaba comenzando nuestra liberación de la
esclavitud al pecado y a la muerte. Lo que
pareció ser pequeño comienzo en Nazaret nos
llevo al nacimiento de Jesús en Belén. Esto fue
un gran comienzo del reino de Dios sobre la
tierra en la Persona de Jesucristo nuestro
Salvador. Todo esto es maravilloso en dimensión.
No es cosa pequeña.

Our Lady was alert to the coming of the Lord.
She had been vigilant in prayer. She had
prepared well for the coming of the Messiah.
She listened to the small voice speaking to her
in the silence. She checked out what the Angel
told her when she sought out her cousin
Elizabeth. And as a result great things have
come about.

Nuestra Señora estaba alerta a la venida del
Señor. Ella había sido vigilante en oración.
Se preparo bien para la venida del Mesías. Ella
le hizo caso a la pequeña voz que le hablo en el
silencio. Salió haber a su prima Isabel al oír
lo que el Ángel le dijo. Y por consecuencia
grandes cosas han sucedido.

We need to do the same thing. We need be alert
to God speaking to us in a small voice in our
hearts, in silent prayer. Great things will
come about for us, too. For we are heirs of
the promise, says St. Paul. If we are removed
from God, we are barren. If we are in union
with God, we shall be fruitful eternally.
Nothing is impossible for God! There is
still hope!

Necesitamos hacer lo mismo. Necesitamos estar
alertas a Dios que nos hable con una pequeña voz
al inspirarnos en nuestros corazones, en la
oración en silencio. Grandes cosas sucederán a
consecuencia para nosotros también. Porque
somos herederos de la promesa, como nos dice San
Pablo. Si nos removemos de Dios, seremos
infértiles. Pero si nos unimos a Dios,
daremos fruto eterno. Nada es imposible para
Dios! Todavía hay esperanza!
