  • Objectives
  • The main aim of the project is to effectively
    clamp down on illegal shipments of
  • waste to Africa in order to protect human health
    and the environment.
  • Establish formal contacts in key African
    countries (focus on W.A)
  • To raise awareness and enhance compliance with
    Reg. EC 1013/2006 through innovative
    communication (focus on exporters in Europe)
  • Assess current situation regarding imports from
    EU, enforcement structures, treatment
    possibilities, problematic wastes streams and
  • import restrictions
  • Agree on how to deal with verification requests
    and detected illegal shipments and their return
    (i.e enforcement part of component 4 of the Basel
    E-waste project)
