What are Shingles?

1. Shingles are a type of disease that occurs from
   the Herpes Zoster virus.
2. Once a person or child has had the Chicken Pox
   virus, it is always a possibility that this
   latent virus known as Shingles can occur.
3. Shingles lie dormant deep in the nerve cells
   until they are reactivated.
4. Old age, weak immune systems and even stress are
   enough to reactivate this virus.

How are Shingles Treated?

1. Shingles, like other forms of Herpes, are
   incurable.
2. Acyclovir is used to treat shingles as well as
   other antibiotics.
3. Once a person has Shingles, they have them for
   the rest of their life.
4. The effects of the virus usually subside
   naturally after a couple weeks.

Who Usually Gets Shingles?

1. The elderly
2. The sick
3. Sometimes the very young, such as infants
4. The stressed!

1. Shingles will continue to be a part of peoples
   daily lives.
2. Medicines for this virus will hopefully get
   stronger and safer.
3. If youre young and not sick, stay stress-free
   and the Shingles will stay away!
