3- EXPECTATIONS
- Doing a lesson that uses the computer
- Using links for students and teacher
- Using excel to show results
- Using power point to share lesson
4-
-
- How to get students to use links on the internet
- How to build a lesson on a web
- How to use excel
- The many aspects of homophones, homonyms, and
homographs.
What I learned
5successes
- Students were engaged
- Students enjoyed the online activities
- I can build more lessons using the internet and
excel - Matched standards
6shortcomings
- Finding the correct preteststudents had to take
it twice. Is a good tool? - Time available in the computer lab
- Time to do actual practice before the post test
- Unit took longer than expected
7The students did improve in the post test and met
at least a competent status on the rubric for
writing.
8REVISIONS
The pre test/post test needed some HELP! I
revised it and had the students take it again.
They were patient and helpful and actually helped
me do the revisions. I also found more web sites
where they could practice the use of the words
more. Although I did this lesson with students
in two eighth grade classes, I used data from
only one.
9 I had no idea that there was so much
interest in homophones, which is such a small
part of the whole picture in Language Arts. This
project has taught me how to enhance each lesson
I do by seeing what is available online. There
are other technologies Id like to add for the
students---they were limited to what we had
available to me and to the school.
