History of the Sonoran UCEDD
  • University and Community came together in Spring
    2006 to apply for UCEDD expansion grant
  • Fall 2006, Dept. of Family and Community Medicine
    learned successful recipient of 5 year 2.2
    million dollar grant for research, education,
    service and information dissemination in the area
    of DD

Interdisciplinary Training Program
  • Bring together students working in different
    disciplines with a common desire to continue
    learning about the lives of individuals with
    developmental disabilities and their families.
  • All trainees will participate in the UCEDD core
    training curriculum, relevant course work at the
    UA as well as carrying out individualized
    projects, clinical and leadership experiences
    chosen in conjunction with a UCEDD faculty
    advisor and a community disability advisor.

Training Program Objective
  • The fundamental objective of the
    interdisciplinary program is to prepare students
    to become leaders and advocates in the disability
    field with an understanding of principles of
    self-determination and meaningful community
    inclusion for all people with disabilities.
