the goal of becoming a Task Group. Purpose For
discussion within the IEEE 802.15.4a study group
on future work and direction. Notice This

• Generate a PAR

• Defines the scope of the project
• Complete 802 LMSC 5 criteria
• Ensures that new standards in 802 will address
  new markets, not just another way of doing
  something

• Applications requiring mobility faster than 11
  mph, such as
• Tire pressure
• Assets in vehicles (in-car communications)
• Drive-by
• Drop boxes
• Drive-by AMR
• Toll booths
• Applications requiring robustness or fewer
  retransmissions in multipath environments, such
  as
• Industrial mission-critical
• Airplanes
• Ships / engine rooms
• Gaming
• New WINA alliance one example of this need
• Applications requiring ranging accuracy better
  than 0.5 meters, such as
• Asset tracking (active RFID)

• New projects (e.g. SGs) in 802.15 need to honor
  the scope/charter of IEEE 802.15
• SG4a should be complementary, i.e. adding to the
  market of 802.15.4
