  • Location aware information/advertising service

  • The End User is the tourist who will rent a car
    in which the product is installed

Explaining The System
  • The Tourist Information System is a GPS device
    that allows a tourist to determine his/her
    current position and provides relevant
    information about the current area.
  • The device is mounted in a rented car and
    broadcasts information/advertising to the cars
    radio.
  • The device will provide information based on the
    current positional information from the GPS unit.
  • Information/advertising stored on the unit is
    updated via GPRS.

Product Look-and-Feel Description
  • The product needs to be housed in the dash board,
    boot compartment or under the bonnet.
  • It must be able to withstand jolts and bumps.
  • The casing which the product is placed in should
    be constructed from

  • Sheet Metal

User-interface Experimentation
  • The user can interact with the system in the
    following three ways
  • Listening to a dedicated tourist information
    channel which is quiet between adverts.
  • Listening to a normal radio station which allows
    tourist information adverts to be played when
    passing certain areas.
  • Log mode, which notifies the user with a beep
    that an advert is available. The adverts are
    queued up and the user can then press a button to
    play back each advert. This mode doesnt
    interrupt radio play.
