What is an epic hero?

• A larger than life character who embodies the
  ideals of a nation or race. Epic heroes takes
  part in dangerous adventures and accomplish great
  deeds. Many undertake long, difficult journeys
  and display great courage and superhuman
  strength.

What is an epic?

• A long narrative poem on a serious subject,
  presented in an elevated or formal style. It
  traces the adventures of the epic hero. Epics
  address universal concerns, such as good and
  evil, life and death, and sin and redemption.
• Pay attention to style devices, such as in medias
  res, epithets, and invocations.
