Title: Zechariah
1Zechariahs Horses- A Harmony with the Chart of
the Ages
- Bro. Richard Doctor- San Diego Convention
November 2006
2Zechariahs Horses
- The prophetic image should be consistent, but we
need to recognize and interpret them within their
settings and with their dynamics - Colors of Chapters 1 and 6 should be consistent
with prophecy and history
3Zechariah 18-13 I saw by night
- 18 and behold a man riding upon a red horse,
and he stood among the myrtle trees that were
in the bottom and behind him were there red
horses, speckled, and white. - 19 Then said I,
- O my lord, what are these?
-
4Zechariah 18-13 ...what are these?
- 19 And the angel that talked with me said unto
me, - I will show thee what these be.
-
5Zechariah 18-13 an answer
- 110 And the man that stood among the myrtle
trees answered and said, - These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk
to and fro through the earth. -
- 111 And they answered the angel of the LORD
that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, - We have walked to and fro through the earth,
and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is
at rest.
6Zechariah 18-13 How long Lord?
- 112 Then the angel of the LORD answered and
said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not
have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of
Judah, against which thou hast had indignation
these threescore and ten years? - 113 And the LORD answered the angel that talked
with me with good words and comfortable
words. -
7Summary of Zechariah 18-13
- Night time
- Red horse (singular)
- Myrtle trees that were in the bottom
- Red horses, speckled, and white.
- 70 Years of Babylonian rule
8Zechariah 18-12 I saw by night
- Night time in the bottom land the Present
Evil World, but the fertile, prime portion of it - Horses not just doctrine but that special
portion of the general physical energy that
mankind draws on for motivation. This motivating
energy may be religious doctrine, and it may be
broader than doctrine.
9Horses do not always picture doctrine
- Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far,
burning with his anger, and the burden thereof
is heavy his lips are full of indignation, and
his tongue as a devouring fire - And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall
reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the
nations with the sieve of vanity and there
shall be a bridle in the jaws of the People,
causing them to err. Isaiah 3027-29
10What then are horses?
- For the Christian, horses are the driving power
of our consecrated living. - They picture the Holy Spirit in action
- this is broader than
- doctrine alone
11Zechariah 18-12 I saw by night
- Red horse (singular) in this case a picture of
sinful leadership
St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre 1572
Crusades 1096-1300s

113?
16What is unique in all Scripture about Zechariah
113?
- In no other scripture do we find an Angel so
emotionally distraught that another heavenly host
needs to minister to their needs - We are theater to the Angels.

20OUR GLORIOUS POPES
- Pope Innocent III brought to the papacy a
thorough understanding of the warfare which had
been waged against the Church in order to
dominate, and even to overthrow her. - And no one appreciated more than he the multiple
blessings which a holy and enduring union between
Church and State would bring to Christendom.
21OUR GLORIOUS POPES
For through this union, he said, is the
Faith propagated, heresy overcome, virtue made to
flourish, vices rooted out, justice preserved,
iniquity held in check, peace secured,
persecution abolished, and pagan barbarity
subdued. This union insures the prosperity of the
Empire and the liberty of the Church. It is a
pledge of bodily security and the salvation of
the soul . . . and guarantees the rights of the
clergy and those of the State.
22Zechariah 18-12
- Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define
that it is absolutely necessary for salvation
that every human creature be subject to the Roman
Pontiff. - Bull 'Unam Sanctam
- Pope Boniface VIII 1302
23Zechariah 61-8 These are the four spirits of
the heavens
- 61 And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and
looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out
from between two mountains and the mountains
were mountains of brass. 2. In the first
chariot were red horses and in the second
chariot black horses 3. And in the third
chariot white horses and in the fourth chariot
grisled and bay horses.
24Zechariah 61-8 These are the four spirits of
the heavens
- 4. Then I answered and said unto the angel that
talked with me, What are these, my lord? 5.
And the angel answered and said unto me, These
are the four spirits of the heavens, which go
forth from standing before the Lord of all the
earth. 6. The black horses which are therein
go forth into the north country and the white go
forth after them and the grisled go forth toward
the south country.
25Zechariah 61-8 These are the four spirits of
the heavens
- 7. And the bay went forth, and sought to go
that they might walk to and fro through the
earth and he said, Get you hence, walk to and
fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro
through the earth. 8. Then cried he upon me, and
spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go
toward the north country have quieted my spirit
in the north country.
