EZEKIEL
  • Ezekiel means God will strengthen.
  • Ezekiel was a prophet and a priest.
  • He was carried captive to Babylon in 597 BC?
  • Book of Ezekiel was written about 595-597BC?
  • The saddest day of his life was the death of his
    wife.
  • The LORD told Ezekiel that his wife would die on
the very day that the armies of Babylon laid
siege on Jerusalem. He was commanded not to
    grieve for her.
  • The sadness of her death is likened to
  • the grief of God at the sin of Jerusalem.
  • Ezekiel prepared himself for this tragedy
  • even as God had prepared Himself
  • for the death of His beloved city Jerusalem.

4
EZEKIEL
  • No other event in the lives of the Old Testament
prophets is as touching as this.
  • The harshness of God's command to His prophet
emphasizes the Lord's grief over the fate and
    sufferings of His rebellious people.
  • Believers in God have been called upon
  • to suffer many indignities through the ages,
  • But in the suffering of Ezekiel,
  • We learn something of the suffering of God
    Himself.
  • Ezekiel shows us how ugly serious our sin is.
  • Our rebellion brings grief and hurt to God,
  • against whom our sin is directed.

  • WHAT IS THE MESSAGE FOR US TODAY?
  • READ 2 CORINTHIANS 312-18
  • 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a

  • 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the
    veil is taken away.
  • 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the
Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
  • 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as
in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being
transformed into the same image from glory to
glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
