Personal, Social and Emotional Development Sharing
our toys and learning to play together will make
our Nursery a happy place for everyone. We will
be making new friends and encouraging the
children to try different activities for the
first time. The children will be finding out how
to care for the plants and minibeasts in their
garden. Why dont you plant some seeds at home
and care for them?
Physical Development Climbing, balancing or
crawling through the outdoor play equipment is
lots of fun. Each week the children will enjoy a
swimming session in our pool. They will be
developing their fine motor skills learning how
to use scissors, pencils and paintbrushes.
Have some family fun outdoors playing with a ball!
Creative Development Imagine Mary, Marys garden!
Can you model it or make a picture using lots of
different materials? The children will be
creating role plays, music and dances from
stories and rhymes. Be brave take the paints
outside and have fun!
Knowledge and Understanding of the
World Exploring our garden to discover what lives
there, planting seeds as well as becoming a
minibeast detective are just some of the
activities well be taking part in this summer.
We will be sharing in all the excitement of the
Olympics and celebrating the rich diversity of
our world. Why dont you look for minibeasts in
your garden and find the places where they live?
Wonderful Words Summer 2012
Communication, Language and Literacy Lets have
fun with words ! Learning Nursery Rhymes,
playing with puppets and sharing stories together
will help the children develop their spoken
confidence, appreciation of rhyme and
story-telling skills. Role play fun in our
garden centre will encourage the children to
experiment with mark-making, writing lists and
making posters. The children will be learning to
recognise and write their names. Have you
visited the library in Woodbridge yet? Enjoy
sharing books with your child there.
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy Learn new
counting songs and rhymes to count potatoes,
seeds and the minibeasts we find in the garden!
The children will be comparing the sizes of the
different insects and weighing their cooking
ingredients. How many wiggly worms can you find
in the garden?
