History

• Royal Greenlandic Trading Company.
• (Kgl. Grønlandske Handel (KGH)
• From 1774 to 1985.
• Kalaallit Niuerfiat (KNI) - 1986 to 1992 .
• Royal Arctic Line Ltd. (established in 1993).
• RA,100 owned by The Greenland Home Rule
  Government (since 1995).(J. Lauritzen ownership
  66,6 - 1993-1995).

• Offering a liner service between Greenland and
  Denmark and on the coast of Greenland.
• Freight Forwarding - including Air Freight,
  warehousing and agency services.
• Operating 13 container terminals providing
  stevedoring, warehousing and other transport
  related services.

All vessels are ice strengthened and owned by
Royal Arctic Line Ltd. Royal Arctic Bygdeservice
(coastal service) operating 6 smaller coasters.

Sailing schedule

• All towns on the west coast of Greenland from
  Cape Farewell to Sisimiut are called all year
  round. Towns north of Sisimiut are called during
  April / May through November / December).
• Royal Arctic offers a weekly schedule between
  Aalborg and Greenland and on the west coast.
• Royal Arctic calls the east coast of Greenland
  during the open water season from June thru
  October offering 8 sealifts.

Royal Arctic North America service direct

• Royal Arctic Line offers a year round service
  between USA / Canada east coast and Greenland.
• Sailing frequency 3-4 weeks.
• Direct summer service via Narsaq, South
  Greenland, from April through November.
• During the winter months - December through March
  via Reykjavik to Greenland.

• 258 stevedores and port services in Greenland.
• 215 ships crew.
• 164 agency and stevedoring Aalborg.
• 50 head office in Nuuk.
• Training.
• Currently 62 personnel are receiving training on
  ships, container terminals, technical skills and
  administrative duties.

• 13 shipping related jobs
• 40 administration, mechanics,
• IT- systems and stevedores.

• Royal Arctic.

Royal Arctic introducing containerization

• In co-operation with the United States Embassy,
  Copenhagen, Royal Arctic Line introduces a pure
  container sealift concept to Thule Air Base in
  2000.
• Effect lower freight costs, quicker operations,
  lessor stevedoring costs and reduction in cargo
  damages.
