4Motivation
- Current and future rising of the wind energy
- High wind penetration
- Fluctuating nature of the wind
- Power Fluctuations of the wind farms
- Keeping the balance between generated and
consumed power - Security issue for systems with weak
interconnections - The need to store big amounts of energy
- Hydrogen-based devices can offer sufficient
flexibility for operation in connection with
stochastic generators
5Motivation
- Example of the power fluctuation in a single wind
turbine and in the whole wind farm

22Conclusions
- The model enables the fuel cell to generate
energy as a function of the total power variation
in real time. - As a consequence, power fluctuations get
considerably lower. - When regulation technics are applied to the wind
farm the improvement is higher. Moreover, since
the fuel cell produces power depending on the
fluctuations of the wind farm, and these are
lower because of the ramp limitation, the
variation in its production is lower too, which
means better behaviour and easier implementation
in a real device.
