Ground shaking
When the ground shakes buildings can fall.
Ground shaking can also cause roads to be
damaged.

Landslides
Mud and rocks become loose. The mud and rocks
slide down the hill. Sometimes houses are
destroyed.

Fires
Power lines can catch on fire. This causes grass
to catch on fire. The fire spreads.

The ground breaks and cracks. Sometimes the road
is damaged.

The ground becomes soft. Buildings sink into the

Tsunamis
Earthquakes under the water cause tsunamis. A
lot of water comes on to the land. Many people
die because there is no warning.
