  • Gyral patterns can be modified experimentally
  • Lesions yield abnormal patterns
  • Microgyria and cytoarchitectonic abnormalities
    results from brain injury

  • Neural tube first recognizable structure
  • Occurs about 6-8 weeks gestation
  • Begins to differentiate
  • Bulb at anterior end
