- Family Career and Community Leaders of America
- An organization for students who are enrolled or
have been enrolled in Family Consumer Sciences
classes for at least one semester

- Feb. 1917 Smith Hughes Act Signed
- June 1945 FHA founded in Chicago
- Feb. 1946 Oklahoma FHA chartered as 18th State
Association - July 1965 FHA and New Homemakers merged

- May 1971 HERO Chapters established
- Oct. 1994 Home Economics changed to FACS
- July 1999 FHA/HERO changed to FCCLA

To promote personal growth and leadership
development through family and consumer sciences
education. Focusing on the multiple roles of
family member, wage earner, and community leader,
members develop skills for life through character
development, creative and critical thinking,
interpersonal communication, practical knowledge
and vocational preparation.

- To provide opportunities for personal development
and preparation for adult life. - To strengthen the function of the family as a
basic unit of society. - To encourage democracy through cooperation in the
home and family. - To encourage individual and group involvement in
helping achieve global cooperation and harmony.
