  • The first modern political thinker
  • Born in the city of Florence, on May 3, 1469
  • Italian diplomat, political philoshper, musician,
    poet and playright. In his spare time he wrote
    The Prince.

  • In The Prince he describes the arts by which a
    Prince can retain control of his realm.
  • Machiavelli explains through examples which
    princes are the most successful in obtaining and
    maintaining power. He draws his examples from
    personal observations made while he was on
    diplomatic missions for Florence and from his
    readings in ancient history
