  • Ben Franklin establishes Philadelphia's first
    newspaper. Which was called the Pennsylvania
    Gazette. Later in his year he discovered that
    lighting is electricity.

1735
  • Trial of John Peter Zenger.
  • The Zenger trial is a remarkable story of a
    divided Colony, the beginnings of a free press

1739
  • Stone slave rebellion in South Carolina. Their
    was a captive named Cato led a rebellion in which
    30 colonist in South Carolina were killed.

1744
  • Eliza Lucas Pinckney successfully grows indigo.
  • Southern plantations grew tobacco, rice, and
    indigo, which they sold to buyers in England and
    elsewhere in America.

  • The colonies have 250,000 enslaved persons. It
    was very crowded. A Quaker named John Woolman
    wrote that the color of man should have equal
    equality.

  • More Europeans, arrive in the colonies.
  • By 1770, more than 2 million people lived and
    worked in Great Britains 13 North American
    Colonies.
  • Colonist from all over Europe were welcomed in
    the Middle Colonies.
  • Europeans who settled in the Middle Colonies
    included Dutch, German Scottish, Irish,
    Portuguese, Swedish, and English immigrants.

  • Philadelphia is the largest colonial city. It is
    in Pennsylvania and Benjamin Franklin helped
    established it.

  • Agriculture- the business of farming, was the
    way of life for most people.
  • Industry- Shipbuilding was a major industry
    because the colonist didnt want to buy the ships
    from England always.
  • Free Enterprise- is a system for people so they
    can start any business they wanted to.

  • Assembly- is a meeting for the people of the town
    or which ever group.
  • Legislation- I the making or the passing of laws.
  • Delegates- are member s of an assembly, wealthy
    landowners, and lawyers.
