Title: The Mighty, Majestic Lion

1
The Mighty, Majestic Lion
  • Be careful watch out for attacks from Satan,
your great enemy. He prowls around like a
hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to
tear apart. Stand firm when he attacks. Trust
    the Lord.
  • 1 Peter 58-9

2
The Facts, Please!
  • The Lion is often called the king of beasts.
The male lions mane, his powerful frame, and his
large head give him a stately, regal appearance.
A full-grown male measures nearly 4 feet high and
is 9 or 10 feet long, from nose to tip of tail.
Male lions weigh about 400 to 500 pounds. The
more slender lioness looks like a male without
    its mane.

3
The Facts, Please!
  • A lions tail ends in a tuft, in the center of
which is a sort of claw, known as its thorn.
The powerful forelegs and large feet with sharp,
    horny claws are powerful weapons.

The Facts, Please!
  • A lion doesnt spend most of his time hunting his
prey. He sleeps up to 20 hours a day, either in
his den or beneath a shade tree. He hunts at
night under the cover of darkness. Of course, he
doesnt roar then! He creeps silently close to
his prey, staying downwind of his prey to keep
the animal from getting his scent.

6
The Facts, Please!
  • A lion doesnt look for the biggest animal to
kill. He attacks old, young, or weak animals
because they are easier to hunt down. When he is
near his victim, he rushes toward it with great
speed and leaps on it. He kills small prey with
a single swat of his paw, or he breaks the neck
    of a larger animal.

The Facts, Please!
  • Lions were plentiful in Palestine in Bible times.
The Bible has many stories of lions, and verses
where they are mentioned. Lions dont often
attack and kill men, but they have done so. The
following four stories are about lions and men.
