What is the Eco-Schools project?

• Eco schools is an international award project run
  by ENCAMS. It is about promoting environmental
  awareness and environmental management in
  schools. The scheme has been running since 1994.
• The structure of the eco schools process is made
  up of different elements
• There are nine themes in the programme Litter,
  Waste, Energy, School grounds, Biodiversity,
  Global perspective, Transport, Healthy living.
• If a school puts effort in to the scheme there
  are three levels of award bronze, silver and
  gold flag.

Your Environment
On average, people use 150litres of water a day!
Every ton of recycled office paper saves 380
gallons of oil.

The Green Flag

• What does it do?
• Encourages schools to become eco friendly by
  introducing a specification that if met, will
  award them a ranking.
• There are certain standards the school have to
  reach before they receive a certain level of
  flag.
• There are 3 flags available
• Bronze, Silver and GREEN

The Eco Code

• Focus on methods to preserve energy
• Utilise the resources we have to limit waste
• Turn off the lights and taps when not in use
• Use public transport or walk when possible
• Reduce, reuse, and recycle
• Educate the community to protect the environment
