1
draft-ietf-p2psip-concepts-05
  • Chairs
  • (on behalf of the authors
  • D. Bryan, P. Matthews, E. Shim, D. Willis and S.
    Dawkins)

2
Update
  • Draft was recently revised, consisting of
  • Updating references
  • Tweaking terminology to be inline with -base-26
  • Updating open issues
  • Authors would like re-confirm WG interest before
    advancing draft
  • Currently milestone exists, but deliberately
    after base
  • Some of this material is now covered (in a more
cursory form) in base, but we feel there is value
to a short, free-standing overview draft
  • Will revise to align with changes (proposal on
    next slide)

3
Proposal
  • Remains informational draft, explaining concepts
(architecture, DHT, etc.) to new readers
  • General flow of document remains same
  • High level description
  • Reference use of protocol (distributed SIP
    registrar)
  • Definitions used in P2PSIP
  • Discussion of how RELOAD solves certain problems
and is used to implement certain services
  • However, the following changes will be made

4
Proposed Changes
  • High level description extended/refined to
reflect more general distributed lookup nature of
RELOAD (current text is more SIP specific)
  • Reference use is largely the same, but clearly
explain this relates to the SIP usage and is the
primary, but not the only use of RELOAD
  • Align all keywords/terminology to reflect
    -base and -sip draft decisions
  • Bring to WG and advance draft...
