ISAT and ACT Readiness
8
Where is IL in Terms of NAEP Scores?
9
Why does this gap exist?
  • NCLB caused many states to adjust scoring to
    avoid penalty
  • ISAT testing is based on Quadrant A information.
No application and No higher order thinking
  • ISAT is Standards Based and ACT is Norm
    Referenced. Comparing Apples to Oranges

10
Closing The Gap
  • Common Core Standards--Fewer Standards, Deeper
    understanding
  • Providing multiple, formative/summative
    assessments
  • State considering scoring at the NAEP/ACT levels
before Common Core in place to lessen the
impending impact of the first test

11
What is CIS doing?
  • Advanced Classes in all subject areas
  • Advanced math has led to higher Exceed
  • Enrichment Opportunities
  • Classes such as Socrates Cafe, Brainology,
Speech/Debate, Computers, 5th Grade Math Problem
Solving are creating high level performance tasks
    for students.

12
CIS cont.
  • Making Rigor and Relevance commonplace in our
    curriculum
  • Common Core Standards are aimed to provide
    quadrant C information and activities.
  • Common Core Test will test at the Quadrant D
    level.
