• Elizabeth Griffin, 22, died 6 weeks after a
  rhesus Monkey threw feces, saliva, bedding and
  urine in her eye. The monkey has herpes-b virus.
  Elizabeth was not wearing eye protection.
• Dartmouth College Chemisty Professor, Karen
  Wetterhahn, died in June after spending several
  months in a coma following over exposure to
  dimethylmercury.

• A chemistry experiment went awry at Federal Way
  High School in Seattle, burning 3 students and a
  teacher.

I never saw anything like it," said student Diana
Solis, who was in the chemistry lab when the
blast occurred.

• Washington, DC Cardozo High School was evacuated
  and closed following a mercury spill.
• Two Huntington Beach High School (California)
  seniors were badly burned on the last day of
  school attempting to perform a demo with
  methanol. One student was burned over 40 of his
  body.
