14IMPORTANT QUESTION
S A V E D
SINS FORGIVEN
AT WHAT POINT ARE SINS FORGIVEN
RECEIVE INDWELLING HOLY SPIRIT
TIME LINE
hear
believe
repent

NEW MAN REBORN IN CHRIST
OLD MAN LOST IN SIN
15What Happens at the Point of Baptism?
Romans 63-4
16We are placed in Christ
(1 Corinthians 1213 Galatians
327) Were associated with the death of Christ
(Colossians 212) We are raised to a new life
(2 Corinthians
517 Colossians 212)
Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every
one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins and you shall
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
(Acts 238)
17THE WAY OF SALVATION
We will not be baptized if we do not believed it
necessary, as commanded by Jesus
Christ. However, in your daily life as a
Christian, it helps to remember what takes place
when we are baptized. When we are baptized, here
is what happened to us
18We are saved.
(Mark 1616 1 Peter 321) Our sins are forgiven.
(Acts 238) We were baptized into Jesus Christ.
(Galatians 326,27 1 Corinthians 1213) We were
baptized into Jesus death. (Romans 63-4) Our
sins are washed away. (Acts 2216)
19It is important to note that baptism ALONE does
not save us. To say that baptism alone saved us
would be like saying that faith alone saved us or
that repentance alone saved us. Neither would be
a scriptural claim. Our obedience to Jesus
command to be baptized works with our belief, our
repentant change and the confession of our faith
to save us.

24THE WAY OF SALVATION
A brief summary of the way of salvation. The
purpose of our belief To direct us to obey God,
Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The purpose of our
repentance To turn us to Jesus Christ and His
teachings, turning away from our sinful
activities of the past and staying away from them
in the future. The purpose of our confession To
show that we were not (and are not) ashamed of
Jesus Christ and our belief in Him.
25THE WAY OF SALVATION
A brief summary of the way of salvation. The
purpose of our baptism Baptism is the final act
of our obedience so that we might be saved. It
was that which put us into the body of Christ,
the church. It results in the forgiveness of our
sins. It was that from which we rise to walk in
a newness of life, serving only the Lord.
26We need to strive to make certain that we are
following up on the purpose of our salvation.
Remember, we are to walk in a newness of life,
serving only the Lord. We are to turn away from
sin on a daily basis, striving with God's help to
say no to any and all forms of temptations. We
need to continue to build our faith in Jesus
Christ and continue to proclaim that faith so
that others might believe.
27Homework. 1. Chain reference on Salvation
