• Level 5 is considered the gold standard at the
  end of Key Stage 3 if you can get a Level 5 you
  are in a strong position to proceed to GCSE
  French.

Level 5 Writing
So you need everything at levels 3 and 4, PLUS

• Pupils produce short pieces of writing, in
  simple sentences, that seek and convey
  information and opinions. They refer to recent
  experiences or future plans, as well as to
  everyday activities. Although there may be some
  mistakes, the meaning can be understood with
  little or no difficulty. They use dictionaries or
  glossaries to check words they have learnt and to
  look up unknown words.
