  • Types of foundations sources often determine
    funding decisions and priorities
  • Private - Funds come from a single source, like a
    family fortune
  • Public- at least 1/3 of the income comes from
    general public donation
  • Corporate foundations
  • These foundations are separate legal entities
    where giving reflects corporate interests.
  • Follow the same laws governing private
    foundations, including filing an annual Form
    990-PF with the IRS.

  • Grantmaking increased to 38.5 billion, according
    to data provided by the Foundation Center in
    2007.
  • Corporate giving
  • In 2007 increased by an estimated 1.9, to 15.7
    billion.

    approximately 17 of a mature non-profits giving
    plan.
