• Term Project Instructions

• Group Business Project (20)
• Relevant business cases from the real world are
  emphasized as an important part of the learning
  activities for this course. Students are
  required to form a group of (TBC) to conduct an
  in-depth analysis of business alliances from the
  international business arena. Students must
  submit a group paper (report), prepare for the
  presentation of the business project, and
  actively participate in the discussion. Students
  must submit a copy of their business case project
  1 day before their presentation schedule.

• Requirements on group business project
• Each group will choose a business alliance case
  and analyze the alliance venture as per the
  following recommended guideline
• Brief background of the business project
  (including but not limited to industry analysis,
  competitive analysis, and company analysis)
• Your analysis on the motives and fits between the
  partners of the alliance taking place in the
  business project. Whats in it for all
  stakeholders? Does it make sense to you? Why?
• How is the alliance designed, developed,
  structured, and managed? Type of the alliance?
  What is the impact / performance? Is the
  alliance a significant one? Why?
• Identify / discuss the main issues or problems as
  well as causes. Whats going on? What went
  wrong/right? Whats the latest situation?
  Whats the future direction?
• Identify / discuss the key success factors of the
  alliance. Why is the alliance successful /
  failed?
• Your comments and discussion on lesson learnt and
  if possible a solution/decision to the issues in
  case. ( Be rational, thorough and specific in
  supporting your idea)
• A written report of your group project must be
  submitted before/when you are about to make your
  presentation.
• Report will be no more than 4 pages in length
  (Summary)

• When making a presentation, please make sure that
  you present the business case in the manner that
  you are telling the story and not reading it to
  the audience. A grading sheet will be available
  on the website to assist you in understanding
  expectations of the presentation. A member of the
  local business community will be invited to
  attend the presentations and provide feedback to
  individual groups.
• Plagiarism is strictly prohibited! References
  needed.
• Punctuality is one of many good and preferred
  characteristics of a businessperson, therefore,
  please be on time!
