Title: PRODEX
1PRODEX
- PROgramme de Développement dEXpériences
scientifiques
2General PRODEX Programme Objectives
- To provide funding for the development of
scientific instruments or experiments proposed by
institutes or universities of the PRODEX
Participating States, in the framework of the
existing ESA projects of the various ESA
Programmes (Science, Microgravity, Earth
Observation, etc.). - To improve the relations between scientific and
industrial circles.
3Specific PRODEX Programme Objective
- To assure that no less than 50 of the projected
costs will be spent through industrial contracts
within the territory of the Participating State.
4PRODEX Funding Condition
- The instrument or experiment proposed at national
level shall be selected by ESA in accordance with
its own rules and procedures(i.e. in strict
competition with the instruments and experiments
of other Member States)
5Project Selection Process
- Project selection is determined by
- Scientific evaluation by ESA Peer Review Groups
such as SSWG, AWG, etc. - Approval by appropriate ESA Programme Boards such
as SPC, PB-EO, PB-MS, PB-MG, etc.
6PRODEX Actors
- Scientific Institute or University
- ESA through the PRODEX Office
- Industry
7Responsibilities of the Scientific Institute or
University
- Define the objectives and content of the project
to be developed (S.O.W.) - Update the specification when needed
- Prepare a financial plan, including estimates for
- Institute costs
- Contracts with industry
- Purchase of specific equipment
- Miscellaneous (consumables,etc.)
- Update this financial plan on a yearly basis
- Deliver the scientific instrument
8Responsibilities of ESA through the PRODEX Office
- Issue the Invitations To Tender (ITT)
- Evaluate the industrial proposals according to
ESA procedures - Conclude and manage industrial contracts
(including technical support contracts as
required) according to ESA General Clauses and
Conditions - Ensure that at least 50 of the project costs are
spent through industrial contracts within the
Participating State - Give scientific advice and support (if needed)
- Accept the goods or services delivered under the
contracts (after the agreement of the Institute)
9Responsibilities of Industry
- Execute the work and activities defined in the
ESA contract - Follow the specifications fixed by the Institute
(SOW attached to the contract) - Deliver to ESA the object of the contract (after
the agreement of the Institute)
