3- Neighbours, Friends and Families is a campaign
to raise awareness of the signs of woman abuse so
that people who are close to an at-risk woman or
abusive man can help

neighbours, family and coworkers have an
essential role to play as part of a wider
coordinated community response.

- A project of the Grey Bruce Domestic Violence
Coordinating Committee, in partnership with - the Ontario Government, the Ontario Womens
Directorate, the Expert Panel on Neighbours,
Friends and Families, and the Centre for Research
and Education on Violence Against Women and
Children
6 Neighbours, Friends and Families have a crucial
role to play in preventing woman abuse Everyone
can learn about the warning signs of woman abuse
and learn how to help You can help by reading
the brochures and safety cards and by making them
available to people you know
7 Communities working together can make a
difference in abused womens and childrens
lives Talking to abusive men is critical to
ending woman abuse Abusive behaviour wont go
away by itself. There are services in Grey Bruce
to help men who abuse
8Everyone in Grey Bruce can
Learn to recognize warning signs and high risk
factors and take them seriously Support abused
women and abusive men by talking to them and
making sure they know about community
supports Get involved to prevent violence. Its
just like like getting involved when someone is
drinking and driving Contact local service
providers or the Assaulted Womens Helpline if
you need help dealing with the issue. Call the
police in an emergency

10Community Champions
Our Community Champions are the heart of the Grey
Bruce NFF Campaign. We are honoured to have
sixteen volunteer Community Champions to start
the campaign. By the end of the campaign there
will be many more.

- The campaign will engage both men and women as
Community Champions. - We know that men are an untapped resource for
violence prevention. - We know that the issue of woman abuse affects
men as deeply and as often as women.

happen. - Everyone can do something, and everything makes a

possibilities for violence prevention. - Provide tools, support and resources so
neighbours, friends and families can effectively
and safely respond to woman abuse.
